Warwick & the Southern Downs district
Warwick, famous as the ‘Rose & Rodeo City, can trace its history back to around 1850’s. Since then it has grown into a thriving regional centre of around 12000 inhabitants, located on the Condamine River, source of Australia’s longest river system.
Warwick’s many historical and heritage listed buildings, attest to a rich history built on timber and farming industries. A heritage walk (brochures from the Visitor Centre) will guide you to most of them. The Glengallan Homestead & Heritage Centre and the Southern Downs Steam railway, are fine examples of the past in the Southern Downs.
